Unfortunately, probably not. As it stands now, the developer license for the Spotify SDK for commercial apps is much too restrictive, requiring at least a quarter of a million active monthly users, among other things. Even if DiscoCat used the Spotify SDK, the “in-app” streaming functionality leads to an awkward user experience since it sometimes requires a momentary switch to the Spotify app and back to authenticate prior to playing.
Possibly. We will be looking into the APIs of other streaming services (other than Spotify) to see if they offer the streaming functionally that we need. For those that do not, we are planning to move their external links up to the streaming section for easier access (like we do currently for Spotify).
That is the dream. If enough of you support us with a subscription, we may be able to hire more developers! 😘
Feature Requests, Bug Reports, & Roadmap
If you have any feature suggestions or bugs to report or simply want to read and even vote on the features and bugs submitted by others, you can access our Features & Bugs page directly from the About screen in the iOS app or the Help menu in the macOS app. You can also view our product roadmap from there as well. We prefer not to show the links here because we want to insure there is only one vote per user.
